Objective 1.3 Install View Transfer Server
For this objective I used the following resources:
- VMware View Installation Documentation
- VMware KB Article 1027217 Network connectivity requirements for VMware View Manager 4.5 and later
Knowledge
Identify minimum hardware and software requirements for installation
- The View Transfer Server has to be managed by the same vCenter Server instance as the local desktops it will manage
- It does not have to be part of a domain
- It must use a static IP address
- The virtual machine must be configured to use the LSI Logic Parallel SCSI controller. It cannot use a SAS or VMware paravirtual controller
- View Transfer Server software cannot coexist on the same virtual machine with any other View Manager software components
- The VMDK that is configured as the image repository must have enough storage space to house the static image files. Image files are View Composer base images
- Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit (Enterprise and Standard) is supported with a minimum of 4GB of RAM
- Windows Server 2003 R2 32bit (Enterprise and Standard) is supported with a minimum of 2GB of RAM
- Two virtual CPU’s should be configured per View Transfer Server
